Francis (Frank) Brown

Five mornings a week I walked the short distance along Great Plain Avenue to Miss Hinkley's kindergarten class in the rotunda at the end of the quaint old Harris school.  As I neared Plymouth Rd. I would often see this pretty girl just reaching the end of her street and about to cross Great Plain Avenue for the final stretch walk to that room full of tiny chairs for first year "students" to be.

Rarely, we two five year olds would catch up to each other and walk up the steps together, informally introducing ourselves through shy smiles, sometimes adding undefined small talk of small people.  This is my first, and very fond, memory of Martha Fay.

I am deeply saddened by your having lost your beloved wife and soul mate, Jeff.  Know that I am thinking warm thoughts of you and your family and sending you love and light.   Affectionately,  Frank Brown

Dear Jeff,

Grief has no adequate words to describe it.   The journey through it speaks to the vulnerabiity we experience when we share life with someone.  But it also speaks to the joy, dreams and laughter which we never would have known without that person.

More than half a century of loving Martha is extraordinary.  But then, what the two of you shared is extraordinary.

You are in my thoughts,   Linda

Dear Jeff,

I was shocked and saddened to hear Martha died. I'm thinking of you and wish you the best as you live through this terrible loss. I never knew Martha well, but I do remember her smile and laugh. And it's obvious from these warm memories how much she will be missed by so many.

John
